(1) The minimum clear width of doorway ="http://thehandyforce.com/doors/" title ="Toronto Door installer">doorways serving patients or residents shall be 1 050 mm, except where, in a Group B, Division 2 or 3 occupancy, the door,
(a) serves a service room,
(b) serves an administrative area,
(c) will not be used by non-ambulatory outpatients,
(d) is located within a patient’s or resident’s sleeping room, or
(e) is in a long-term care home that will accommodate only ambulatory residents.
Note: On July 1, 2017, Article 3.3.3.4. of Division B of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted: (See: O. Reg. 139/17, s. 38)

(1) In a Group B, Division 2 or 3 occupancy, the minimum clear width of doorway ="http://thehandyforce.com/doors/" title ="Toronto Door installer">doorways through which it is necessary to move a patient or resident in a bed shall be 1 050 mm.

Doorways serving patients or residents must have a clear width of at least 1,050 mm, wider than a standard door, so beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs can pass through easily, with narrower exceptions for service rooms and similar non-patient spaces.
