The Ontario Building Code | Combustible Construction Support
3.1.8.2. Combustible Construction support
(1) Combustible construction that abuts on or is supported by a noncombustiblefire separation shall be constructed so that its collapse under fire conditions will not cause the collapse of the fire separation.
In Plain Language
Where combustible construction rests against or is supported by a noncombustible fire separation, it must be built so that its collapse in a fire won't drag the fire separation down with it.
