The Ontario Building Code | Protection from Frost

7.3.5.4. Protection from Frost

(1) Where piping may be exposed to freezing conditions, it shall be protected from the effects of freezing.

In Plain Language

Piping that could be exposed to freezing temperatures must be protected against frost, since ice forming inside a pipe can crack it or block flow entirely.
