The Ontario Building Code | Expansion and Contraction
9.27.5.6. Expansion and Contraction
(1) Fasteners for metal or vinyl cladding shall be positioned to permit expansion and contraction of the cladding.
In Plain Language
Cladding installation must accommodate expansion and contraction, as set out in this article, since materials shrink and swell with temperature and moisture changes and rigid installation can cause buckling or cracking.
