The Ontario Building Code | Clear Opening Width at Doorways
(a) exit doors, and
(b) doors that open into or are located,
(i) within a public corridor, or
(ii) within another facility that provides access to exit from a suite.
(2) doorway ="http://thehandyforce.com/doors/" title ="Toronto Door installer">doorways described in Sentence (1) shall be not less than,
(a) 800 mm wide where there is only one door leaf,
(b) 800 mm wide where multiple-leaf doors are installed with only one active leaf with a latching mechanism described in Article 220.127.116.11., and
(c) 1210 mm wide where multiple-leaf doors are installed with two active leaves.
(a) no active leaf shall be less than 810 mm wide where only one leaf is active, and
(b) no single leaf shall be less than 610 mm wide where two leaves are active.
(4) doorway ="http://thehandyforce.com/doors/" title ="Toronto Door installer">doorways serving a single dwelling unitneed not comply with Sentence (2).
Note: On July 1, 2017, Sentence 18.104.22.168.(4) of Division B of the Regulation is amended by striking out "single dwelling unit" and substituting "houseor an individual dwelling unit". (See: O. Reg. 139/17, s. 94)
