APPLICATION OF THE NATIONAL PLUMBING CODE

  • Subject to the amendments made by this Chapter, the Code applies to all construction work on a plumbing system in a building to which the Building Act (chapter B-1.1) applies or in a facility intended for use by the public designated in the second paragraph of this section.

    For the purposes of section 10 of the Act, tents or exterior inflatable structures to which Chapter I of the Construction Code applies are facilities intended for use by the public and used

    1. as residential occupancies or care or detention occupancies whose floor area is 100 m2 or more; or

    2. as assembly occupancies or mercantile occupancies whose floor area exceeds 150 m2 and whose load capacity exceeds 60 persons.

      For the purposes of this section, the definitions of plumbing system and building are those provided for in the Code, as adopted by this Chapter. In addition, the definitions of the following terms are those provided for in the National Building Code, as adopted by Chapter I of the Construction Code: tent, inflatable structure, residential occupancy, care or detention facility, floor area, assembly occupancy, mercantile occupancy.

  • Unless otherwise provided for, a reference in this Chapter to a standard or code is a reference to that standard or code as adopted by the chapter of the Construction Code (chapter B-1.1, r. 2) or Safety Code (chapter B-1.1, r. 3) that refers to it.
